Combination of expert evaluations and lab-based user tests

  • They are fast
  • They can catch a lot of usability problems

But they also have important disadvantages:

  • Experts may not represent the actual users
  • For accessibility, likeability, functionality and sociability issues, it is very important that real users are engaged in the evaluation
  • Expert reviews don't provide real performance data
  • In many cases, different groups of users are to be involved in the evaluation

So, users will be the real judge of the user experience. For our user tests, we hire state-of-the-art usability labs of CUO/IBBT. When testing in the stationary lab is impossible, we offer remote observation capability with a mobile lab, allowing us to conduct tests in locations desired by our clients.

Combined, these two aspects of a user-centric design process, expert review and user tests, give you two perspectives that work hand in hand.
