Information Architecture

Information ArchitectureLarger View
  • Insight in how users would categorize & order all your information items in groups.
  • Insight in how users would name these groups of information.
  • How many potential main categories are there?
  • How similar / different are the needs of the different user groups?

The card sorting sessions will results in a new information architecture adapted to the needs of your users (and not your company). A well designed information architecture enables the user to find information quickly and efficiently. Making things simple & efficient, that's the thing we like to do !

Case: UZ Leuven

For the university hospital of Leuven, UZ Leuven, we did a whole user-centred design project to come to a new successful & attractive website. Card sorting was the first step of this user-centred design project, after which some iterations of user tests followed.

We closely worked together with the team of UZ Leuven to inventorise all the information items they would like to offer on their new website. After doing that, the card sorting sessions with several user groups could take place. We invited several patients, visitors of the hospital and doctors to take part (individually) in a card sorting session. Not only the card sorting itself is important, the things users say & do during such a session are also very interesting !

Like already said, the card sorting sessions were only a starting point for the new UZ Leuven website. We also did iterative user testings to optimize the detailed screens and to create a website that is adapted to the needs of all visitors.
