Competitive benchmarking is the process of measuring the user experience of your product against competitive products or services.
The best way to do a benchmark study is in a controlled environment of a usability lab (see picture above). We invite users to take part in a user test and evaluate different kind of criteria on each competitor's product.
To measure these criteria, we use specialized software and are able to make a video compilation of the most important findings. It is even possible to capture the eye movements of the test users during the user/benchmark test. In this way you gain insight in how users look at your & the competitors' products.
It is also possible to do such a comparative study by using the expert review technique.
